our setting

Our setting…

Give your child the best start, developing educationally, physically, emotionally and socially in nature’s classroom.

creative curiosity

Encouraging children’s inquisitive nature; follow their interests, explore and give things a go.

“Children thrive and make rapid progress in this vibrant setting. They settle quickly and become confident learners, exploring and determining their play. For example, children decide to ‘cook’ outside. They describe how they make ‘woodchip cupcakes’, making a written record of the recipe. They delight in new discoveries, such as lichen, eagerly learning how this grows. Wherever children choose to play, they are excited and challenged.”

confident communicators

Advanced language, listening and writing skills to be life-ready.

“Children delight in books. For example, a small group of children choose favourite books and read these to one another. They listen intently and organise how they are going to act out the story. Children develop excellent communication skills. Staff expertly engage children in discussions, helping them to gain an advanced understanding of the rhythm of conversation. Staff have high expectations of children and introduce new, complex vocabulary.”

caring community

Emotional wellbeing and positive relationships through preschool/parent partnership.

“Children’s behaviour is exemplary and they demonstrate a mature understanding of their feelings. For instance, they join in with simple sessions, such as ‘eagle flying’, where they are aware of their breathing and movement, helping them to feel calm. Staff and managers pay meticulous attention to understanding each child and their family. Children gain an excellent awareness of their local community and are fully involved in community life, helping them develop a strong sense of belonging. For example, they help stock the food hub and tend an allotment, where they grow produce to sell in their shop. “

cognitive connectors

Problem solve using maths and logic through real world activities and experiences.

“Children have numerous opportunities to use their knowledge and test ideas. Children enjoy innovative activities that help extend their learning to the optimum.
Staff have a deep understanding of the innovative curriculum. They expertly implement this, making superb use of the outdoor area. They competently use balance bars, developing their core strength and coordination. They consider the placement of plants and the pond, drawing up plans to illustrate this.”

We are an outdoor preschool that believes in an holistic approach to the education and development of children, supporting physical health, emotional development, and overall wellbeing and mental health through a curriculum based in nature. Our setting offers both unstructured and adult led play, both of which promote imagination, curiosity, and creativity.

We work to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and assess children’s progress and development across the Birth to 5 non statutory guidance. This runs alongside our own bespoke curriculum which gives us the structure for what we teach: based in nature and through real-life experiences.

We pride ourselves on our excellent care of and provision for children and their families in need of additional support. We are firm believers in early intervention and the need for sensitive collaboration with parents.

Visit and like our Facebook page, it is updated regularly to show you what we have been getting up to.
